Introduction Utah is ranked 34th among the 50 states of United States. Utah is ranked 40th and is located Western United States. Utah was admitted to the U.S. union in 1896 as the 48th state. As per Utah’s constitution there exist three branches of government- executive, judicial and legislative. The executive branch is headed by the Governor of Utah and is elected for four-year term. The judicial branch of Utah is the Utah state judiciary. The state’s highest court is the Supreme Court of Utah while the Utah Court of Appeals deals with cases from the trial courts. The judges of the Supreme Court are elected by the governor and are subjected to retention election. The legislative branch consists of bicameral Utah state legislature which is comprised of House of Representatives led by the Speaker of the House and the Senate headed by the President of Senate.
