Introduction The capital of Utah, Salt Lake City Lake City was founded in 1847 by religious leader Brigham Young. It is the world headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). The city hosted the 2002 winter Olympics. It is also a major tourist attraction because of its picturesque beauty and historical landmarks.
Salt Lake City Lake City is bounded on three sides by mountain ranges and on the northwest by the Great Salt Lake City Lake. The city is protected from the severe weather because of the presence of the mountains. The lakes also influence the climate and moderate the temperature. Spring experiences heavy rain and strong winds from the Pacific.
