Introduction Saint George is a county seat in Washington County named after Mormon elder, George Albert Smith. Saint George is located near the Arizona border, far southwest corner of Utah.
St. George is nestled in a picturesque valley surrounded by impressive sandstone cliffs. St. George lies in the lowest elevation region of the state, Dixie, with most of the city lying below 3,000 feet (900 m). The city is surrounded by mountains and red sandstone buttes, and it lies at the very northeastern edge of the Mojave Desert. St. George enjoys a semi-arid climate with rainfall seasons in early spring and late summer. The average annual precipitation is arpund 8 inches. Average annual summer temperature ranges between 95 and 101 degrees Fahrenheit. St. George lies in the high desert at an elevation of 2800 feet. Pine Valley Mountains and Beaver Mountains modify the climate during the summer months. It is a green oasis in the desert with a good combination of dry, winter climate and picturesque setting.
